I just found out serendipitously that the name Calissa means:
”Most beautiful. Diminutive of Calista, Mythological Arcadian who transformed into a she-bear, then into the Great Bear constellation.”

For me, the name is actually a contraction of Calissilme, from Tolkien’s Elvish, meaning “shining one”.
It’s nice to hear that it has another, equally beautiful origin though, and one that contains a lot of strength. Something to stive for!
